USFK statement on recent requests for environmental information
YONGSAN GARRISON, Seoul – U.S. Forces Korea received a letter from the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Environment on April 29 requesting information on environmental issues related to U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan. USFK representatives immediately responded with an offer to meet with ROK government officials to discuss their request. The Ministry of Environment recently responded to USFK's offer and a meeting date has been set for mid-June. We regret any miscommunication that may have occurred.
As part of our ongoing “Green Neighbor Initiative,” U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan recently hosted environmental professionals from Seoul City and Yongsan-gu and Korean community neighbors at Yongsan and provided an overview of how U.S. Army environmental programs are conducted. The guests met with professionals from the garrison Directorate of Public Works Environmental Division and were briefed on the environmental efforts employed to keep the garrison in compliance with environmental standards. 환경문제 관련 최근의 요청에 대한 주한미군의 입장
대한민국, 서울 용산기지 – 주한미군 사령부는 지난 4월 29일 대한민국의 환경부로부터 용산기지 환경문제를 토의하자고 요청하는 내용 서한을 받았습니다. 주한미군 사령부는 즉시 해당 요청에 대한 논의를 진행하기 위해 대한민국 정부 관계자와의 만남을 제안하는 답변을 보냈습니다. 이에 환경부는 주한미군사령부의 제안대로 6월 중순경에 만나기로 하였습니다. 우리는 이러한 과정이 정확하게 전달되지 못했다면 유감스럽게 생각합니다.
